Top 2023 Fantasy Football Quarterback League Winners: Brock Purdy

Top 2023 Fantasy Football Quarterback League Winners: Brock Purdy
Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

It’s hard to argue that any NFL quarterback has come farther from draft day to now than San Francisco 49ers’ second-year signal caller Brock Purdy has. That’s because the former “Mr. Irrelevant” himself has parlayed his early success with the 49ers playoff chances and into a potential Super Bowl run in 2023, with Purdy tossing 23 touchdown passes and throwing for 3,185 yards this season, with a league-best 75.6 QBR. As a result, the Niners are sitting in a tie with the Detroit Lions for the second-best record in the NFC at 9-3.

As we move into the typical Fantasy Playoffs period for most leagues, BetCalifornia.com utilized FantasyData.com to compile the current fantasy rankings of QBs after Week 13 of play in a standard points per reception (PPR) league and then found the average draft position fantasy rankings for a standard PPR league before the season. It’s worth noting NFL quarterbacks were only included if they were in the Top 30 in original ADP rankings.

Purdy Among NFL’s Best In 2023

Of the NFL quarterbacks that qualified for our list, Purdy has seen the third largest jump from preseason rankings to this week, going from No. 23 to No. 7 in the NFL, thanks to an average of 19.0 fantasy points per week. Leaguewide, Purdy ranks behind C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans (+24 spots) and Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell (+22 spots) when it comes to the largest gains in rankings, while Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers (+15 spots) and Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys (+6 spots) round out the list.

When broken down solely by fantasy points per game, Purdy’s 19.0 PPG ranks third among the quintet of quarterbacks, behind Prescott (21.2) and Stroud (19.9). Purdy and the Niners will look to build on their strong start to the season Sunday when they host the 6-6 Seattle Seahawks. Oddsmakers from ESPN BET have San Francisco as a 10.5-point favorite.
