  • August 26: The Raiders agree to terms on a 1-year contract with Josh Jacobs worth up to $12 million depending on various incentives. Despite a long holdout, the star running back will officially report to camp and is expected to be ready by Week 1. 
  • August 19: The Las Vegas Raiders defeat the Los Angeles Rams 34-17 in Week 2 of the NFL Preseason. Jimmy Garoppolo, who did not play in the first preseason game, went 4-4 for 39 yards in limited snaps. 
  • August 13: In their first game of the 2023 NFL Preseason, the Raiders defeat their former cross-town rival San Francisco 34-7. Although quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo did not play, several other players had a strong showing, and Garoppolo is still on track to start in Week 1 of the regular season.
