Las Vegas Athletics Name Change? Potential Las Vegas MLB Team Names
Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

The 30 men in charge of Major League Baseball along with the sport’s commissioner put the final stake in the heart of professional baseball in the East Bay on Thursday, unanimously approving the relocation of the Oakland Athletics to Las Vegas. After years of half-hearted measures, A’s Owner John Fisher finally got his longtime goal of leaving Oakland for the Sin City, following in the footsteps of the Raiders, who made the same trek in 2019.

Now that we know that the Oakland A’s are soon to be relegated to the dustbin of history, it’s worth wondering whether Fisher and his henchmen will rename their prized possession once they hit the Strip, whenever they get the money to build an actual stadium in the city limits.

As we patiently wait for the legalization of California sports betting, BetCalifornia.com broke down some potential odds on the next name for Las Vegas’ first MLB franchise, starting with the team’s current name and working down from there.

Las Vegas MLB Team Name Odds

Here’s where we see the soon-to-be Las Vegas MLB team going, name-wise, in the months (or years) ahead. Some odds you wouldn't likely find on California betting apps.

What Will Las Vegas’ MLB Team Name Be?

The clubhouse leader for the team name of the soon-to-be Las Vegas ballclub is the one that’s adorned the franchise since it called Philadelphia home way back in 1901, which is the Athletics.

The team’s current name comes in at -2000 to be the one that sticks when the club absconds to Las Vegas (whenever that may be), while other leaders should the club chance their name include the Venom and Vipers (+7500 apiece), or the Spades, Scorpions, Vultures and Jacks (+2500 apiece).

For now, all we know is that 55 years of professional baseball is soon to be coming to an end in The Town, leaving behind four World Series titles and countless fans when Fisher and his team trade in the drab confines of the Oakland Coliseum for the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas.

Although the Athletics are leaving the Golden State, we will continue to cover sports news like this and other breaking news. BetCalifornia.com will be your home to the best California sportsbook promos as soon as they become available after sports betting has been legalized.
