Golden State Warriors See NBA Title Odds Fall After Game 5 Loss
Fact Checked by Michael Peters

Oddsmakers at some of the largest national sportsbooks have cooled on the Golden State Warriors’ NBA title chances in 2022.

BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, and FanDuel Sportsbook have all dropped Golden State down a rung on their title odds boards Thursday. The move comes after the Warriors were routed by the Memphis Grizzlies, 134-95, in Wednesday’s Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

California sports betting fans, however, must go to Nevada or Arizona to place legal wagers on the Warriors.

But sports betting will go before voters in November, with two different proposals on the ballot.

Game 5 was a night Steph Curry and company would like to forget, as they went from a four-point pregame favorite to allowing the Grizzlies their largest point total in franchise playoff history.

Now, the Warriors must regroup before Game 6 of the series tips off from Chase Center at 7 p.m. Pacific time Friday.

Here’s a breakdown of the Warriors’ latest title odds and more.

Warriors vs. Grizzlies Series Schedule

  • Game 1: Warriors 117, Grizzlies 116
  • Game 2: Grizzlies 106, Warriors 101
  • Game 3: Warriors 142, Grizzlies 112
  • Game 4: Warriors 101, Grizzlies 98
  • Game 5: Grizzlies 134, Warriors 95
  • Game 6: Friday, 7 p.m. ESPN, at Golden State.
  • Game 7: Monday, TBD, at Memphis (if necessary).

Warriors See Title Odds Take a Beating

Steve Kerr’s team is no longer in sole possession of the top spot in NBA Championship odds. Instead, Golden State has gone from +210 to +225 on BetMGM, +200 to +220 on Caesars Sportsbook, +220 to +250 on DraftKings Sportsbook, and +200 to +220 on FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Warriors rank in a tie with Phoenix for the No. 1 spot on BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook.

Golden State ranks No. 2 on DraftKings Sportsbook behind the Suns (+200), who the Warriors would likely meet in the Western Conference Finals if they beat the Grizzlies in either of the final two games of their series.

Golden State Still a Sizable Favorite in Game 6

The doom and gloom surrounding the Warriors’ future is limited to the franchise’s title odds, however.

All four major online sportsbooks have Golden State at -8.5 over Memphis in Game 6. For those looking to place a moneyline wager, Golden State’s odds currently range from -390 (FanDuel Sportsbook) to -425 (DraftKings Sportsbook).

In between, you’ll find the Warriors at -400 on BetMGM and -420 on Caesars Sportsbook, showing the faith oddsmakers have in Golden State to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in three years.
