The Los Angeles Rams' Week 18 win clinched the No. 6 seed for the team and they will now head east to take on the Detroit Lions in the opening round of the playoffs. Although legal California sportsbooks are not yet live, we can still look at betting markets to see the Rams' Super Bowl odds, chances of advancing, and more.

Latest Rams Super Bowl Odds

With the playoffs a few days away from kicking off, there are limited futures markets as it pertains to the Rams' postseason hopes. The odds below are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook California unless otherwise noted:

🏆 NFC Champion Odds+2000 (4.8% chance)
👑 Rams Super Bowl Odds+4000 (2.4% chance)
✅ Odds Last UpdatedApril 10, 2024

The Rams have been one of the more surprising teams in the NFL this season and have capped that off with a trip to the postseason. Despite ending the season as one of the hottest teams, going 7-1 coming out of their bye week, the betting markets don't seem to view the Rams as a legitimate option to make a deep playoff run. At +2000 to win the NFC, the Rams have the fifth-longest odds and are head of just the Bucs and Packers.

Similarly, the Rams Super Bowl odds of +4000 are the 10th-longest, putting them ahead of the two NFC teams mentioned above as well as the Texans and Steelers in the AFC.

Los Angeles Rams' Playoff Schedule

Thanks to their Week 18 win over the San Francisco 49ers, the Rams secured the No. 6 seed and a trip to take on the No. 3 seed, the Detroit Lions. The NFL scriptwriters are certainly having the times of their lives as the Rams-Lions game is just one of several playoff games with big-time storylines. Quarterback Matthew Stafford will lead the Rams into Detroit where he will face off against the franchise where he spent the first 12 years of his career. He'll obviously be going up against Jared Goff, whom the Rams traded to get Stafford in 2021. The Lions have just three playoff appearances in the last 20 years and haven't won a playoff game since the 1991-1992 season. Stafford keeping the Lions' drought going would be a cruel irony.

Los Angeles Rams Playoff Odds

When it comes to the game itself, the Rams are slight road underdogs in this one. Here are the Rams' betting lines for their matchup against the Lions from DraftKings Sportsbook, as of January 12:

  • Rams/Lions Spread: Rams +3
  • Rams Moneyline: +136
  • Rams/Lions Total: O/U 51.5

The Rams are 10-6-1 against the spread (ATS) this year, giving them the fourth-best cover rate at 62.5%. Looking at just their road games this season, Los Angeles has the same cover percentage with a 5-3-1 record. As for the other side, Detroit leads the league ATS with a 70.6% cover rate (12-5). The Lions have actually performed better against the spread on the road at home, as they've gone 5-3 in Detroit compared to 7-2 as the visiting team.

Key Contributors Toward the Los Angeles Rams Playoff Success

Although the Rams' defense has certainly surpassed most expectations from how the unit was viewed at the beginning of the season, the Rams' playoff chances rest solely on the shoulders of quarterback Matthew Stafford and the offense. If Stafford can remain healthy and play at a high level, the Rams will have a shot at keeping up with most teams in the playoffs. The passing game has received a much-needed boost from fifth-round rookie receiver Puka Nacua with Cooper Kupp struggling to regain his prior year's form. If Kupp is able to pick up his play down the stretch, it could transform the offense. Nacua, meanwhile, is currently fourth in the league in receiving yards and has a legitimate shot to break the record for most receptions and receiving yards by a rookie.

Similar to Nacua, second-year running back Kyren Williams has been one of the biggest surprises for the Rams' offense. Williams currently leads the league in rushing yards per game and despite missing four games while on injured reserve, is second only to Christian McCaffrey in total rushing yards and is tied for the third-most total touchdowns with 15.

Defensively, the unit is led by Aaron Donald and Ernest Jones. Donald has been one of the most dominant defensive players for several years and Jones has taken over as a stabilizing force at linebacker. Heading into the regular season finale, Jones was tied for the 9th-most total tackles and tied for the 16th-most tackles for loss.

Los Angeles Rams Playoff Predictions

The Rams have been playing their best football at the most important time of the year. With Stafford's play more closely resembling his form from two years ago versus last year, he can keep this team within striking distance of most teams. Although the defense has played above expectations, they're still just an average unit.

While it shouldn't surprise anyone if the Rams can come away with a win in the opening round of the playoffs, it's hard to see them making a deep run. Assuming we don't have two upsets at the start of the NFC playoffs, the Rams will likely be taking on the 49ers in the divisional round. Considering San Fran is 15-5 in their last 20 against Los Angeles, the Rams will have a tough time securing more than one playoff win this year.
